Dan Cragg is an American author and retired U.S. Army sergeant major, born in 1939. He’s best known for co-authoring the StarFist military science fiction series with David Sherman, which blends futuristic combat with gritty realism drawn from his own military experience. Cragg served in the Army from 1958 to 1980, including two tours in Vietnam, and later worked as a defense analyst.

In addition to fiction, he’s written several nonfiction works on military life and history, such as The NCO Guide and Inside the VC and NVA. His writing reflects a deep knowledge of military culture, strategy, and leadership.
