Julie E. Czerneda is a Canadian science fiction and fantasy author, born in 1955, known for blending her background in biology with imaginative storytelling. Her work often explores themes of first contact, alien life, and interspecies communication. She’s written acclaimed series like The Clan Chronicles, Species Imperative, and Web Shifters, and has also edited numerous anthologies.

Czerneda’s writing is celebrated for its rich world-building and scientific depth, and she was inducted into the Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame in 2022. Before becoming a full-time author, she wrote educational materials and textbooks, particularly in science education.
