Paul Cook (born 1950) is an American science fiction author, poet, and classical music critic. He’s also a longtime educator, serving as a Principal Lecturer in the English Department at Arizona State University. Cook holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Utah and has taught a wide range of literature and writing courses, including one of ASU’s first science fiction classes.

His fiction often blends speculative concepts with philosophical and musical themes. Notable novels include Tintagel (1981), a Locus Award finalist, The Alejandra Variations, Duende Meadow, On the Rim of the Mandala, and The Engines of Dawn. His short stories have appeared in Asimov’s, The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, and Amazing Stories.
