Robert N. Charrette is a multifaceted American creator—author, game designer, sculptor, and illustrator—best known for his work in science fiction and fantasy. Born in 1953, he co-designed influential role-playing games like Aftermath! and Shadowrun, the latter of which became a cornerstone of cyberpunk gaming.
As a novelist, Charrette is celebrated for his Shadowrun “Secrets of Power” trilogy (Never Deal with a Dragon, Choose Your Enemies Carefully, and Find Your Own Truth). He also contributed to the BattleTech universe with titles like Wolves on the Border and Heir to the Dragon. His writing often blends gritty futuristic settings with themes of magic, loyalty, and identity.
Beyond writing, Charrette has sculpted miniatures for major gaming companies and founded Parroom Enterprises, a boutique miniatures and games company. His work is deeply influenced by Feudal Japan, Chanbara films, and historical martial arts.
