Eric Flint (1947–2022) was an American science fiction and alternate history author best known for his 1632 series, which launched the collaborative Ring of Fire universe. A former labor organizer with a background in history, Flint championed accessible publishing through initiatives like the Baen Free Library. His work combined historical depth, speculative imagination, and a strong sense of community, both in storytelling and in nurturing new writers.
