Leo Frankowski (1943–2008) was a Polish-American science fiction author and engineer best known for the Conrad Stargard series. His novels often featured time travel, alternate history, and technological innovation, with a focus on medieval Poland. Before becoming a writer, Frankowski held multiple patents and ran a manufacturing company. His fiction combined military themes, engineering know-how, and libertarian-leaning views. He also co-authored several books with Dave Grossman, including the New Kashubia and Two-Space series
