Joe Haldeman (born 1943) is an acclaimed American science fiction author and Vietnam War veteran, best known for The Forever War, a Hugo and Nebula Award-winning novel that explores the psychological toll of war through a futuristic lens. His writing often blends military experience with speculative themes, tackling issues like time dilation, alienation, and societal change. Haldeman taught writing at MIT for over 30 years and was named a SFWA Grand Master in 2010. His works span novels, short stories, poetry, and media tie-ins, including early Star Trek books.
