The Star Wars books expand the galaxy far, far away beyond the films, covering thousands of years of lore. They are divided into canon (officially part of the Star Wars timeline) and Legends (older stories that are no longer canon but still beloved by fans).

Canon Books

Since 2014, Lucasfilm has established a new canon, including books that align with the movies and TV shows. Some notable titles:

  • The High Republic series – Set 200 years before The Phantom Menace, exploring Jedi at their peak.

  • Thrawn Trilogy (Canon) – Follows the rise of Grand Admiral Thrawn, a brilliant strategist.

  • Bloodline – A political thriller focusing on Princess Leia before The Force Awakens.

  • Catalyst – A prequel to Rogue One, detailing the origins of the Death Star project.

Legends Books

Before Disney’s acquisition, Star Wars books were part of the Expanded Universe (EU), now called Legends. Some classics:

  • Thrawn Trilogy (Legends) – Introduced Grand Admiral Thrawn, a fan-favorite villain.

  • Darth Bane Trilogy – Chronicles the origins of the Rule of Two for the Sith.

  • The New Jedi Order – A massive series featuring the Yuuzhan Vong, an alien invasion force.

  • Kenobi – A standalone novel about Obi-Wan’s exile on Tatooine.

There are hundreds of books, covering everything from Jedi history to Sith conspiracies, smugglers, and galactic wars.
